Description:

Hello everyone. I recorded this message without much thought put into it, without a script, without bullet points or an agenda. I just followed a thread I had. The thread gets tangled. My thoughts get jumbled. I open up new threads that have no actual ending. But I try to have at least one through line, and I will share it here: Lift people up. Think about other people as people. And say you're sorry sometimes. (I didn't say that bit in the audio, I directed my apologies at others.)
Thank you all for listening. I might have some embarrassment over this later, but I ultimately think it's the best thing I could've done, because a message like this written perfectly is effective but less real than I was trying to get across. Thank you again, and may the dogs go with you.

You never seemed bad to me. Like, I don't know you all that well, but I also didn't really see you doing things to people. The thing about someone not wanting to speak out on SBYW because they were afraid of you sounds subtly manipulative to me. What's the difference between now and then. Couldn't you still do things to that person? Maybe not ban them from the game, but yeah, this sounds a bit fabricated.

I think we all talk shit on other people. We should probably all do it a bit less, but sometimes, it just feels good to vent. I'm in a situation now where I have to deal with some people doing things I don't like, and someone being with someone I don't like. I can't change their behavior, and I don't want to throw away a friendship over it, so I vent, especially when there are others who know these people and feel the same way. Now, you do too much of it and it turns circular and you can talk it to death, which isn't good.

When it comes to Audiopub, look, why does every blind thing have to have moderators and administrators. It's like we don't know other models exist. This site could have been designed such that users moderate it for the most part. A clip gets flagged x number of times and that generates a report which gets forwarded to the right person or people and they can go from there. It also gets de-amplified - to use a YouTube term, such that it doesn't display in its place. Or maybe, it just displays a warning. In either case, when you have moderators, they're gonna get sick of the bullshit, because it's taxing. This is why social media companies have such a high turnover rate amongst their moderation staff.

I feel like this model is better for something of this scope, because you limit the amount of BS that your staff have to deal with.

Yeah, most people tell me I'm probably thinking about the people who were "afraid" on SBYW too much and probably taking them too seriously. The audiopub moderation system on here is pretty good, though, as it's as simple as having someone say hey take a look at this. All things considered it's pretty easy.

To be fare, most of the people who seemed to dislike you back on Sketchbook did so because of several reasons, most of which weren't really reasonable or warranted. You have the ones who were pissy because you banned their friends which ok, you're within your rights to feel that way, but when the other person was wrong you really have no headway. There were also the people who weren't overtly malicious, or at any rate not overtly malicious people, who thought the game was the ideal place to say absolutely whatever they wanted with no repercussions. Unfortunately that wasn't the case, hense the current state of things.

As for the moderation, I think it farely sufficient in this case. I do actually agree with @ironcross in that a form of user moderation would probably take the load off moderators or at any rate make their jobs easier, though for the moment this seems to work just fine.
