Description:

In this audio recording I demonstrate a cheep ass walkie-talkie I found at Marshalls for $6.99. It's only a one channel walkie-talkie, and the only button you have is to send morse code, and the range is shit. It also souns terrible.

That is an absolutely fantastic piece of technology.

I wouldn't call it fantastic. The distance from you and the other person is about 15 feet or such, and it sounds cheap. Maybe if it was like an old-school walkie-talkie from back in the day maybe.

When I was little I had something similar, but it was quite big so it couldn't fit in the pocket, had a clip to attach it to your trousers or whatever, it was powered by a 9V battery and had a telescopic antenna. It had the on and off switch integrated with the volume knob, and next to it was a button for morse code, and a ptt button on the left. There was a set of 2, they were really bulky, and I accidentally dropped them one day and they had smashed to pieces. Normally I would say this is the same thing you have, because the morse code sound was the same but mine had better speakers, and also 1 channel and short range despite a very long antenna. It was back in 2006 or so I guess.

Nice! Mine doesn't have a volume knob, only the button to transmit Morse code, push to talk and the switch to turn it on and off.

These walkie-talkies were only $6.99, which says everything.
