Sorry for the shitty microphone. Yes, this will be cross-platform. I also said early demo because there are a couple more features I still need to add. Let me know your thoughts ❤️

how do you type in commands to the controlled machine if the keyboards don't match or are nonexistent on the controlling machine

  • KamiKitsune - 08/10/2025

IS THAT ANDROID OR LINUX? SOUNDS LIKE DROID

There will be an on-screen keyboard, which won't be the most comfortable to use obviously, but you could also hook up a wired or wireless keyboard to your phone if you wish.

@KamiKitsune This is windows and android

  • vrivri - 08/10/2025

I know an app where you can do the same thing, but to control Android. Narual. I think the idea would be that you could both control Android from your PC and control PC from Android? If so, that would be great.

  • The Byte Bender - 08/10/2025

Controling android from pc is simply impossible. Android screen readers don't offer an API where you could hook into screen reader speech to pass it through, like the case is with NVDA remote on windows, where it hooks into NVDA speech events directly. Though I may be able to do it as a csr extension... That would be a first! But I make no promise about that.

Neat thing. I wonder if I could make much use of this once I get a phone. Also I wasn't entirely sure as to whether espeak exists on android or not. But good to know it does

I’m assuming it’s not gonna be on iOS?

  • Jim Pickens - 08/10/2025

Also, which voice is that? Sounds a lot less fatigueing/exhausting/unclear than my current option, Adam.

  • The Byte Bender - 08/10/2025

I said it was going to be cross-platform in the description. It will be on IOS.
    The voice was Edward2

    Sounds very interesting.

This is pretty cool. My question would be, as far as iOS goes... There's already an app for NVDA Remote on iOS. I don't know much about it. How would yours be different or better than that one?

  • Jonathan859 - 08/11/2025

Based as fuck my guy, can't wait.

  • Jonathan859 - 08/11/2025

And yeah there is one for Android too, but it's not really updated or supported afaik. Or rather, it can still be used via APK, but the dev is like drawned in random mailing lists, no fun.

  • Jonathan859 - 08/11/2025

Can you please add that you can mute the PC speech though? There is an app I like which allows me to listen to my PC audio directly from the phone, and it would be quite cool if I could use NVDA Remote to control, and that other one to listen to the Audio, including eloquence. Also, while I don't need it, how is braille support?

  • Jim Pickens - 08/11/2025

There is an app for iOS but it is horribly outdated and has been abandoned for the past few years. It also refuses to connect directly to my machine but that might be a network issue, since it connects to a relay just fine.

  • Jonathan859 - 08/11/2025

Actually the IOS app is getting updated again afaik.

  • The Byte Bender - 08/11/2025

@SweetDaddyRizz Sadly I haven't used the app you mentioned so I have no idaea. Mine could be worse for all I know hahaha.
