Description:

I've been practicing my piano playing skills a little bit, and I'm trying to make sure my finger positioning isn't poor, or god forbid outright bad enough to cause injury eventually.

Right. So, I'm not a piano teacher or professional or anything, I'm just another blind guy who had nonstandard technique until I was 10, then I took classical piano lessons which included a fair amount of technique work (that I hated and was really self-conscious about), but it made my technique a lot more standard. So I might be able to offer some insight.
First thing's first, I highly doubt you will hurt your fingers unless you're bending them over backwards or something. Lol. From my understanding, you're far more likely to hurt yourself by simply overdoing it, and ignoring pain and discomfort until it has become an issue that takes months to recover from. Professionals sadly do that all the time. If you feel fine while playing, then I doubt you're in any danger. Furthermore, if what you're doing works for you and you are satisfied with it, I wouldn't worry so much about whether it's correct either.
That said. You asked a question so I shall answer. From what you're describing, it sounds like you're favoring the middle fingers (index, middle and ring) and aren't using thumbs or pinkies much. which is fine for this kind of playing, but I can see it potentially holding you back if you want to play bigger, fuller chords, or trickier melodies where all five fingers need to be more or less equally active.
If you (or anyone else) wants, I can make my own little explanatory thing telling how I would play that passage, if you want to hear someone else's take. I've been wanting to talk about more music stuff on here anyway so...

I'd love to hear that, yes.
