Shades of Doom Stream Archive, Level 1 | Played 38 times | No favorites

By Dan Gero

There were a few issues with the archive when people have tried to play it back, so I decided to put together an edited version. Hopefully this version flows a bit better than the stream itself. I will be uploading 2 levels per day leading up to the live stream I'll be doing on Friday where I will be going through Level 9, so be on the lookout for that. Thank you to everyone who tuned into that stream, as well as to the people who left comments afterwards. I can't wait to see you all Friday!

Five minutes of bathroom noises | Played 49 times | No favorites

By Radiorobbe

I know some of you like these things, so I'm adding to the collection of bathroom sounds on this site. Here is a five-minute compilation of various water-related bathroom noises that I recorded a few years ago when I was bored. Toilets included! It was recorded using a Zoom H1XLR and some electret capsules.

00:00 - sink, running water
00:15 - pouring water in an empty sink
00:47 - sink, hands in warm water, slightly lathery

01:26 - sink, pouring water with liquid soap, lathery
01:49 - sink, hands in warm water, very lathery
02:08 - sink, hands in warm water, very lathery (stereo)
02:34 - sink, drainage, somewhat eerie
02:50 - sink, drainage, pipe close-up
03:03 - toilet flush, lid open, captured from inside the bowl.

Suno: The Fuckity Verse | Played 58 times | No favorites

So me and a few friends were messing around on a game and someone said something amusing that I misread. It lead to me writing a little profane poem out of boredom that I then fed into Suno. This is the result. I am very sorry, but this is also weirdly catchy?

Shades of Doom 8-Bit Medley | Played 78 times | 1 favorite

By Dan Gero

I'm in the middle of editing the Shades of Doom stream archive, to fix some of the problems you all informed me of. My plan is to split them up into parts so you don't have to listen to the whole thing in 1 sitting or skip around to find things as much. I will start uploading the parts on Monday. In the meantime, I made this little medley for you all to listen to. Just like the Q9 cover, this was made in Reaper using magical 8Bit plug. I hope you all enjoy it!

Dungeons And Dragons: A Gathering Of Glass | Played 98 times | No favorites

By Sir Howard

The small town of Tasik is an idyllic, seaside place. You would know, you grew up there. It's normal, as towns go. Fresh air, clean streets, and a constant connection to the sea. But something had to change. Adventure had to be found. As the month of Avenvas approaches, so too does the Seaglass Gathering, a month long festival Tasik holds every year. But people start to go missing without a trace. The only lead the town has are strange footprints in the sand that lead to nowhere. You've been called home, adventurer. Can your skills solve this mystery? Or is it something too strong for even you?

failed recording attempt but cool tone. | Played 22 times | No favorites

By emperor-limitless

I was attempting to play metal malicia by metallica, and it was way below my standards since it's such a hard song to play and I'm not there yet, but I was surprised when listening to it with headphones that it had a very cool tone which I'm guessing is due to how I put the iphone on top of the amp slightly tilted.

battlesim demo and gaming stream | Played 81 times | 1 favorite

By staticmaster

This is going to be a demo of my game that's under development named battlesim. I've been putting out peaks and stuff but now for the real thing. It's supposed to simulate battles between characters and weapons of virtually anything and everything, and has multiple modes to satisfy your desires to destroy life.
I might also be doing some crazy party as well after this.

:

This demo requires computer at least as fast as 486/33 with coprocesor. But speed of 486/66 or pentium is highly recomended (especially for hight resolution SVGA modes). This demo does not require real operating system - works even under MS-DOS. For dual monitor modes you need secondary hercules / MDA compatible card. To compile demo you need 32 or 64 bit ANSI C compiler (no it does not compile under Borland one) and libraries listed bellow. PC speaker driver eats lots of CPU so running it at computers slower than pentium is really not good idea.

Oh my goodness, a 486 with a co-processor?! How will we ever manage to meet such stringent system requirements! 😛

Jokes aside, this demo (which is still available in your distro's package manager

) was one of the first things I stumbled across, (probably late one night, trawling through Debian or Ubuntu package repositories in my terminal as a kid, passing the time between school, sports clubs and bed, because that's the kind of kid I was and still am ⌣) which opened my mind to not only the beauty and craftsmanship of the demo scene, but the unfettered love and passion that defines tracker music culture.

Oh, and speaking of love, 😍 the note in the internal texts:

I share these mods and what background information I can find about them not just to bring you good music, but to tell stories. A story of a younger me, forging the passion for technology as a source for culture and public good that survives within me today, in spite of rather than *because of * the role technology is playing in our modern world. A story of a time in the not too distant past when we knew how to build beautiful things because we wanted to, not to bolster our job application credentials or extract rent from our users. A story of a largely unrecognised tracker composer (as far as I know) sat at his DOS machine, late at night, working on this track and longing to see the face of his soulmate, to hear her voice again, after so long apart, but who continues anyway, not for recognition, but for the love of the work.

Is this perhaps a rose-tinted portrayal of the historical record? Probably. But my message is this. Take the pure humanity and purity of the arts and out of programming, and we will lose track of why we invented these machines in the first place. Take the humans out of computing and we will crumble from within. Maybe, just maybe, it is time to return technology to the people.

The Radix registry increased the price for its tld's, including the .site tld, at some point last year. This forced all domain registrars to pass that price increase to us as well. I will of course renew the domain in about a month, but this will personally affect me financially considering how much that is in my money.

If you wish to donate, see my Patreon

. You can subscribe and immediately cancel if you don't want to make it recurring, because unfortunately I can't get Paypal to work! If you do not cancel your subscription that would also be highly appreciated. Maybe if we manage to raise enough money after that, we can move to independent hosting and stop straining Patrick's infrastructure! You don't have to donate if you don't want to or can't, and I will renew the domain regardless because I love this community. Your donation just means the renewal wouldn't mean restricting my personal life's spending. Thank you so much!

Just to reiterate: you can donate for one time by subscribing for $3 or more and then canceling your subscription so you're not charged again next month. Please do that if you do not intend to make a recurring donation. If you forget and accidentally get charged next month, send me an email within a week and I'll refund you, though avoiding that situation in the first place is of course preferable. Thank you for making this place worth keeping.

Despite how pleasant this vending machine may sound, at times it has a habit of stealing my money. Will it do so this time around?
Note: this was recorded from my Apple Watch. The quality may be a bit strange.
