My Weakness! My Weakness! reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

now you require choppy voice clips
velan - 05/19/2025
These last two songs remind me of John Kenza/Ryleo Goldridge, one of my favorite composers in this genre. That's a compliment lol. I encourage you to check his stuff out if you're into this genre. Also, some vocal chops would indeed be a fantastic addition to this track. I love it regardless. :)

my question, for house and dub automation I can usually use a vst like big kick stepa. But for something like this, do you sidechain the kick to the hole folder or master so when the kick hits everything fades for that instant?
Talon - 09/09/2025
yeah so for sidechain, I usually have a sidechain bus. Everything I want sidechained goes to that bus. So on the audio track you want to sidechain, press i, add send, to the sidechain track. And on the sidechain track, reacomp, set that up how you like your sidechain with low threshhold, super quick attack, release how you like it, make sure auto makeup is off, I usually turn up ratio to inf but those are all values to set to taste. Also I don't actually use the kick to trigger the sidechain. I have a track which is just a very short noise impulse, usually with Surge also because mmmm Surge. Attack down, sustain down, release down, then set decay to what you want the sidechain curve to sound like, and then you use this as the actual thing to sidechain. Gives you a lot more control and you're not limited by the actual shape of the kick. Then just copy the kicks out of the drum midi and voilah.
